DJI Neo 2 – Pocket “follow-me” drone with omnidirectional obstacle sensing

DJI Neo 2: the pocket “follow-me” drone gets safer and more creative

With Neo 2, DJI takes the concept of a personal drone a step further: extremely lightweight, ready to take off from the palm of your hand, designed for movement-based shooting and social content, but now with a major upgrade in safety thanks to omnidirectional obstacle sensing and a system that combines vision, front-facing LiDAR, and downward sensors.

What really changes with DJI Neo 2

More safety: omnidirectional obstacle sensing

The biggest generational leap is safety. Neo 2 combines omnidirectional vision, a front-facing LiDAR sensor, and downward infrared sensors to detect obstacles in real time. The goal is to make flying more relaxed even for first-time users, especially in outdoor environments with people, trees, or uneven terrain.

Palm takeoff and “Return to Palm”

Neo 2 is designed to be used on the fly: you can launch it directly from your palm and, at the end of a clip, use the return-to-palm function for a stable, controlled landing. The philosophy is clear: less setup, more spontaneity.

Gesture and voice control

Gesture control lets you guide the drone using simple hand movements (forward/backward, altitude, distance), while voice control enables commands via smartphone or Bluetooth headphones—especially useful during sports or outdoor activities. For those who prefer traditional controls and longer range, Neo 2 is compatible with the DJI RC-N3, offering video transmission up to 10 km.

Video quality: 4K 100fps and smart shooting modes

Real-world footage with DJI Neo 2: stability and dynamic motion in action.

Neo 2 features a 1/2" 12 MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2-axis gimbal designed to deliver cleaner, more stable footage. The ability to record in 4K up to 100 fps enables smooth slow motion, while vertical 2.7K recording is ideal for Reels and TikTok.

To simplify content creation, Neo 2 includes intelligent shooting modes such as QuickShots, MasterShots, and a cinematic Dolly Zoom effect, allowing users to achieve polished results without advanced piloting skills.

Enhanced ActiveTrack

DJI states that ActiveTrack has been further improved: it is now more responsive and stable, capable of following subjects moving at speeds of up to around 12 m/s, with multi-directional tracking for natural movement during running, cycling, or other dynamic activities.

Workflow: 49 GB internal storage and wireless transfer

Neo 2 includes 49 GB of internal storage. DJI estimates up to around 105 minutes of recording in 4K/60, 175 minutes in 4K/30, or more than 240 minutes in 1080p/60. Files can be transferred wirelessly by connecting the drone to a smartphone via Wi-Fi and using the DJI Fly app, with transfer speeds of up to approximately 80 MB/s.

Prestablog impressions: who is it for?

The DJI Neo 2 is aimed at users who want drone footage without turning flying into a complex project: ideal for families, travel, sports, and creators looking for a camera that can follow them effortlessly. The combination of advanced tracking and omnidirectional safety sensors is the key differentiator, reducing the stress of first flights while delivering results that are already polished and ready to share, thanks to 4K quality and smart shooting modes.
